C K Vineeth scored a last-pant goal as Kerala Blasters beat FC Pune City 2-1 in an exciting Indian Super League (ISLe) on Friday.Kerala Blasters head coach David James had said that his team will have to win each game left in the season to stand any shot of making into the semi-finals and his players duly delivered, on account of goals from Jackichand Singh and Vineeth.
While Jackichand's goal had class written on top of it in the 58th minute and gave Kerala the lead, it was Vineeth who snatched the spotlight with a goal in the injury included time after Emiliano Alfaro had drawn level for the hosts in the 78th minute.
With the scores bolted at 1-1, and the clock ticking down towards the final whistle, Courage Pekuson's long ball was chested around Vineeth and hit on the swivel with massive energy to beat Vishal Kaith, a dazzling goal from a man who has been Kerala's savior in a large number of times.
It appeared that the match will finish in a draw until Vineeth came up with a blinder of a goal. Even after losing the match, Pune (22 points from 13 matches) will still remain in the playoff spot zone, however, three points for Kerala Blasters means they proceed into the fifth position with 20 points gained from 14 matches.
