6 Reel Couples That Had Great On-Screen Chemistry But Disliked Each Other In Real Life

Our first experience or perhaps knowledge of what romance looks like has come from Hindi Bollywood movies. Whether it is Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol running in a Sarso-Ka-Khet, or Aamir Khan jumping and dancing in Pehla Nasha , our first idea of love has been through the powerful performances of the hero-heroine in Bollywood movies.

Now, while there is a long list of Hindi movies, where the Bollywood actors have had wonderful on-screen chemistry, have you ever wondered how they must be to each other in real life?

Well you'd imagine that "acche-hi-honge, warna Aisi performances Kaise dete", right? Wrong! As it turns out there are a lot of Bollywood movie couples who despite having strong on-screen chemistry in films, actually hate each other in real life.

Let's find out who they are exactly.

1. Emraan Hashmi & Mallika Sherawat

Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat starred in the hugely successful 2004 Bollywood erotic romantic thriller film Murer, which was directed by Anurag Basu.

The duo had scintillating on-screen chemistry in the film so much so that the movie's songs featuring them are still viewed as a perfect romantic track for heating things up while making love. (Don't tell me that song didn't do the same to you)

Well, as things go, while they looked amazing together in the film, the two actors despise each other.

Emraan, known to be a vocal personality, on more than a number of occasions admitted to 'hating her'. He even went on to the extent of stating that Mallika was a terrible kisser.

To which Mallika later replied that she would rather kiss a snake than kiss Emraan.

Probably the reason why we didn't see them build on their on-screen chemistry later in any other movie.

2. Saif Ali Khan & Rani Mukerjee

Both Saif and Rani worked in a number of memorable movies like Hum Tum (2004), Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007) amongst a few.

However, it was said that despite gelling well on-screen, they had a whole lot of differences on the set, with both admitting disliking working with each other.

While Saif said he and Rani were two completely different fundamentally and how he found her very 'annoying', Rani, on the other hand, thought of Saif as someone to be very 'impatient', and someone lacking the 'maturity of an actor like Aamir Khan.

After a string of hits, the two stopped acting because of their differences.

However, the two are now lining up to reunite on the screen in Bunty Aur Babli 2, after a period of 12 years. Let's see how that works out.

3. Sonam Kapoor & Abhay Deol

It is a very well-known fact that Abhay Deol had a whole lot of problems with how Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja handled the filming of Aisha that starred Abhay and Sonam as the lead pair.

Abhay publicly declared that he despised the movie and how the father-daughter duo of Anil and Sonam made it all about fashion, and how he would never star in a film like that ever again.

"The movie had nothing to do with Jane Austen’s Emma as it was reported. When I was shooting, I realized that the film was more about clothes than actual acting. I even read reviews of the movie that praised the clothes." He said previously during an interview.

Sonam was obviously shocked at his public outrage and shared that she had no love lost for him either. Guess, we're not seeing an Aisha sequel anytime soon, for sure.

4. John Abraham & Bipasha Basu

John and Bipasha in Jism were a thing of dreams. Okay. Maybe a different kind of dream altogether.

The duo cast magic onto the screens with their performances and on-screen chemistry in the 2003 Bollywood erotic thriller film and was a real-life couple for almost 9 years with plans to marry as well.

However, things turned real bad, real soon, and the two broke up. Later, there were cheating allegations by Bipasha during an interview and she even went on to refuse to acknowledge John's existence.

Hmm! As if normal break-ups weren't bad enough. Bollywood ones could be even worse.

5. Shahid Kapoor & Kareena Kapoor Khan

The two actors worked in a number of films together but were absolutely sensational in Imtiaz Ali's Jab We Met.

The film went on to become a classic and the two actors were clearly dating at the time.

However, following their break-up and later, Kareena going on to marry Saif, the two reportedly cut all ties.

As per reports, the two can't stand the sight of each other and that is the reason why the hit Bollywood Jodi has not been seen again in recent times.

6. Shah Rukh Khan & Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

There is no doubt that Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are probably two of the most talented and established actors in the industry.

The two had great on-screen chemistry in the Amitabh Bachchan blockbuster 'Mohabbatein', however, things remained pretty bad for the on-screen couple professionally.

Many reasons ranging from Salman Khan, late set arrivals, have been cited for their disagreements, however, only they know exactly why and how they ended up having so much friction on sets.

It has been reported that Shah Rukh even went on to the extent of removing Aishwarya from 5 Bollywood films.

Now, while the two actors still publicly refer to each other as 'good friends, tell me, would you really stay friends with people who get you 'thrown off' from movies?

Yeah. Didn't think so!
