Liverpool ace, Philippe Coutinho, has finally been hijacked by Spanish giants Barcelona after a long struggle over the summer to lure the services of the Brazilian. Barcelona has scouted the attacking midfielder since last summer as Liverpool rejected as many as three bids.
However, the current La Liga leaders have secured the 25-year-old for £142million from Anfield. The club has been in great form this season as they are yet to taste defeat and with the arrival of Coutinho, who is likely to feature in the starting eleven from the end of January, the team looks even more formidable after a disappointing last season.
After Neymar Jr departed for a big money transfer to Paris Saint-German last summer and midfielder Andres Iniesta being in his ending phase of career, the Ernesto Valverde-managed team was desperate to sign a world-class midfielder.
Coutinho has been a revelation in the Premier League for the Reds. But playing for Barcelona was always his dream. He recently expressed: “It was hard for me. Every moment it has changed, three, then four months, and then we were here. I think I haven’t properly realise that I am a Barcelona player now but I will soon when I train with my new teammates. Liverpool did everything they could to keep me and tried their best to make me stay but finally, they understood that this was my dream, always.”
