US President Donald Trump has the justification and the authority to scrap the Iran nuclear agreement if he chooses, said US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley.
At an event, Haley said, "The whole world thinks the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is untouchable, but it`s not.”
Referring to the Iran nuclear deal reached between Iran and six world major nations, namely the US, China, Britain, France, Germany and Russia, the ambassador said, "If Mr. Trump chooses not to certify Iranian agreement, that does not mean the United States is retreating from the JCPOA.”
She further added, that rather, the move would gesture one or more of three messages to Congress.
Haley said, "Either the Administration considers Iran is in ruining of the deal; or the lifting of authorizations against Iran is not suitable and comparative to the regime`s behaviour; or the lifting of sanctions is not in the United States national security interest."
