Russia will no more take part in the 2018 Winter Games to be held in Pyeongchnag, South Korea as their Olympics team has been banned from participating because of evidence of a systematic doping program. This has come out to be the harshest punishment in Olympic history.
However, Russian athletes can apply individually to compete in the event but they will not be allowed to wear their country uniform. In addition to that, the country’s flag won’t appear at the opening ceremony and it’s national anthem will not be played either.
The harsh decision of International Olympic Committee came after a 16-month long investigation of the Russians and two days ago, World Anti-Doping Agency reported the confirmation that they possess evidence showing Russian authorities being involved in a scam with the athletes of the country.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has refused any such allegations over his country’s athletes. But in the meantime, several Russian athletes have been exposed of doping and thereafter they lost their medals.
