So far, the government has collected Rs. 92,283 crore in Goods and Service Tax (GST) for the month of July, said the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
The over-all amount collected comprises Rs. 14,894 crore of the Central GST, Rs. 22,722 crore of State GST and integrated GST of Rs. 47,469 crore. The Integrated GST will be allotted between the Centre and the states, said the minister. The tax collected within the IGST from imports stands at Rs. 20,964 crore.
A compensation cess of Rs. 7,198 crore, is also included in the total sum of Rs. 92,283 crore collected.
About 38 lakh entities had filed their returns, said the Finance Minister. Arun Jaitley further said that it was best to put the GST statistics genuinely in the public domain.
Taking the total number of migrated tax payers to 72.33 lakh, the Finance Minister said that slight more than 64% appropriate tax payers had complied so far. Those who have filled the forms are 58.53 lakh out of the total count. The rest are yet to fulfill the procedures.
18.83 lakh is the number of newly approved tax payers, said the minister. The Centre's combined target for the month of July was Rs. 91,000 crore, as per the minister.
