President Trump announces deploying more troops in Afghanistan

United States President Donald Trump has announced to upsurge the US troops in Afghanistan as portion of a retooled plan for the region, overcoming his own uncertainties about America’s longest war and pledging a fight to win. Our new tactic was intended at preventing Afghanistan from becoming a safe shelter for Islamist militants bent on attacking the United States, said President Trump, in a prime-time televised address at a military base near Washington.

Including a growing Taliban and a weak government in Kabul, the US president, who has frequently condemned the Afghanistan strategies of his predecessors, now inherits the same challenges. Without a clear end in sight or providing specific benchmarks for success, Trump is laying the groundwork for greater U.S. involvement.

President Trump, in a speech with few details, gave no timeline for terminating the U.S. presence in Afghanistan, did not stipulate how many more troops would be added and positioned pressure on India Pakistan and NATO allies to step up their own commitment.
